Why does the grease harden?
The reason for hard lumps in grease lubricated bearings is usually because the oil in the grease is separated from the thickener.
Under normal circumstances, as time goes on, a small part of the oil will precipitate from the grease, and the premature large amount of oil precipitation of the grease will cause it to harden significantly.
In some cases, the service life of the grease is too long, and the hardening will also occur. The solution is to shorten the service life of the grease, which is generally about 6 months to a year. If half of the base oil in the grease is lost, the grease should also be replaced in time. In some cases, the service life of the grease is too long, and the hardening will also occur. The solution is to shorten the service life of the grease, which is generally about 6 months to a year. If half of the base oil in the grease is lost, the grease should also be replaced in time. The high temperature caused by the excessive use of the equipment, or the high temperature caused by other reasons, will also make the grease hard. Whatever the reason, heat will cause excessive loss of oil from the thickener, and can accelerate the oxidation of oil, which will make the grease in the bearing hard. Bearings with large radius and high speed will produce high centrifugal force, which can also make the grease separate oil, thus causing the grease to harden.
